GUARDIAN PROGRAM

A guardian home is a permanent home for one of our breeding females. At Cape Golden we do not keep large numbers of breeding dogs. Rather, our breeding dogs are pets, who breed once a year for a maximum of three litters. If you are a guardian to one of our breeding dogs then she is your pet, however Cape Golden maintains breeding rights. We do not breed more than one litter per year, or more than three litters per female.
Becoming a Guardian Home gives you the opportunity to have one of our mini groodle puppies as a family pet while he or she remains in our program for up to three litters, or up to the age of 5, whichever comes first. Cape Golden will retain all breeding rights. Once retired, she will be spayed at our expense.
If you are a guardian for one of our females, you will receive your puppy for a reduced, refundable cost*. You are then responsible for all costs associated with your dog, except breeding costs which are covered by us. Your dog will live with you for most of the time. She will come to us for breeding (usually a week or two for natural cover or a day or two for artificial insemination) and for whelping, when she will stay until the puppies are rehomed (8-9 weeks total). You are welcome to visit while she is with us and play with the puppies!
Small print! Being a guardian is not for everyone. Click here to find out more information.
